Fire Lighting ... The Fijian Way
Firstly take some dry coconut fronds
Secondly take a piece of dry thicker coconut stem –bend it and bash it to split the fibres,
Then place the dry fronds between the bent stem and place in fire pit
Add a few dry coconut husks with fibres loosely teased out
LIGHT THE FIRE
Remember treat the fire like a baby
Thin twigs at first to give it life, then bigger pieces to sustain the fire.
SIT BACK AND ENJOY
BUT being careful not to burn the Bure down
