Green Metropolis
I don’t know what to tag this blog as… any suggestions?!
Green metropolis is a website in the UK which allows you to buy and sell second hand books.
If you have books to sell you can list them on the website and for every book that’s sold you get £3.00. The books are sold for £3.75 including postage. When you sell a book you receive an email off the company and you have a few days to get the book posted (you have to pay the postage charge). For every book that’s sold through green metropolis, they will donate 5p to the woodland trust.
I have been a green metropolis member for a couple of years now and have sold quite a lot of books. It’s not so much about the money that you make by selling books (although the money does build up), but it’s the re-using side of it. I find that current books tend to sell pretty well rather than older books but it’s a good way to get uptodate books for at least hafl the price of rrp, and doing your bit to “reduce, reuse & recycle” A lot of the time, once I’ve read a greenmetropolis book then I put it back on!
Also, you can claim cash back for the books you sell or you can donate all/part of your money to the woodland trust.

Looks nice and easy – got stacks of books been wanting to pass on somehow and can never be bothered with e-bay or lugging them down to a car boot sale.
Sounds great Kate, thanks for that. I used to do ebay but it was a right carry on. Will get onto this straight away before I break my leg falling over the piles of books building up next to my bed.
