The Green Club--calling all teachers--

The green club, now long in remission, is planning to reassert itself in October. We have been thinking about a few options and I wanted to get some feed back from all of you. The first issue is where will the Gclub meet.

I think having the kids come to Vorovoro is a much better approach.

second, should all the kids separate into small groups and maybe come once a month or should we select a few of the most interested students and have them come every week?

I’m in favor of having a small group come every week.

Third, what should we teach them?

For those of you who have been on the island and come to the sustainability forums that I have led, you will know that I think studying the pieces is only worthwhile if you have some understanding of the whole. Without getting to detailed, I’d like to begin with building a holistic awareness of how Fiji fits into the global environment and what it means to live in a way that is best for all plants and animals in your specific environment. I’d then like to branch out and cover specific areas of sustainability like water, food, energy, waste etc. always relating the parts back to the whole.
